Making the Right Decision

While DIY can seem cost-effective, professional installation ensures proper subfloor preparation, correct expansion gaps, and manufacturer warranty compliance. In the Pacific Northwest's humid climate, improper installation often leads to buckling, gaps, or moisture damage that costs more to fix than hiring a pro from the start.

In Vancouver, Clark County, and the Portland metro area, installation costs typically range from $2-8 per square foot for labor, depending on the flooring type and complexity. We provide free, detailed estimates with transparent pricing so you know exactly what to expect before any work begins.

No. Skyview Flooring specializes in professional flooring installation and does not operate a retail showroom. You purchase your flooring from the store or supplier of your choice, such as a local flooring store, a home improvement store, or an online retailer, and we provide the installation. Since 2007 we have built relationships with flooring suppliers and stores, so we are happy to recommend places to shop and help you choose flooring that suits your project.

Each flooring type excels in different situations. Engineered hardwood offers timeless beauty and home value. Laminate provides durability at a lower price. Waterproof-core LVP is a strong choice for kitchens and bathrooms. Carpet adds warmth and comfort to bedrooms. During your free in-home estimate, we'll help you match the right flooring to each room.

For busy Vancouver, Clark County, and Portland families, we typically recommend LVP or high-quality laminate. Both are scratch-resistant, easy to clean and comfortable underfoot; most LVP has a waterproof core, and laminate is water-resistant. They handle the Pacific Northwest's rainy days and muddy paws beautifully.

With proper care, engineered hardwood lasts 25-50 years, quality laminate 15-25 years, LVP 15-20 years, and carpet 10-15 years. The lifespan depends on product quality, foot traffic, and maintenance. Proper installation is critical — and that's where we come in.

Absolutely. Proper subfloor preparation is critical for a lasting installation, especially in the Pacific Northwest where moisture can be an issue. We repair damaged subfloors, level uneven areas, and install moisture barriers as needed.

Clear the installation area of furniture, personal items, and wall decorations. We recommend removing items from closets in bedrooms. If you have pets, please arrange to keep them safely away from the work area. We'll handle the rest!
