How to Choose a Flooring Installer: 7 Questions to Ask
Choosing the right flooring installer protects both your investment and your home. Before you sign anything, ask these seven questions to make sure you are hiring a licensed, insured, and experienced professional in the Vancouver–Portland area.
1. Are You Licensed in Washington and Oregon?

2. Do You Carry Liability Insurance?
A flooring job means heavy materials, power tools and work around your walls, cabinets and stairs. Ask how the installer checks the subfloor: do they test concrete for moisture, check wood subfloors for flatness and squeaks, and follow the manufacturer's acclimation and underlayment requirements? 6. Is Pricing Provided in a Detailed Written Estimate?
Ask for a written estimate that lists each part of the job: removal and haul-away, subfloor prep or leveling, installation, stairs, transitions and baseboards. Ask what could change the price, such as damage found under the old floor, and how that would be agreed with you before any extra work starts.
7. Do You Sell Materials or Install Only?
