Commercial Stair Carpet Replacement for Andersen Dairy — Battle Ground, WA
Andersen Dairy — known locally as Andy's Food Basket — has been a fixture on Main Street in Battle Ground for generations, just down from the town's namesake historical marker. When the carpet on the stairwell leading up to the employee offices had worn through, they brought Skyview Flooring in to supply and install the replacement.
The Job
The existing stair carpet and pad had reached the end of their life — years of heavy daily foot traffic from staff moving between the retail floor and the upstairs offices had left the carpet visibly aged and faded. We tore out the old material completely, sourced new commercial-grade carpet through NW Surfaces, and installed it the full length of the interior staircase and landing — treads, risers, and nosings wrapped clean, running straight up to the office door at the top. The old carpet had been installed using the waterfall method, simply draped down over each stair nose without being tucked or secured underneath — we installed the new carpet using the cap-and-band method instead, wrapping and tacking it underneath each nosing for a cleaner, more secure edge.
The Result
The finished stairwell now carries a dark charcoal heather loop carpet — a durable, commercial-grade product built for exactly this kind of daily traffic, with tight, clean lines at every nosing and no give or shifting underfoot. That crisp, tailored edge comes from the cap-and-band install — a more secure, safer edge underfoot than the old waterfall installation, with no loose flap at the nose to catch a foot or work itself loose over time. It's a small footprint but a highly visible one: it's the stairwell every employee uses multiple times a day, and it holds up to it.
